Who is behind Me2mobile?

We are a collection of experienced internet entrepreneurs who have been working in the digital media/mobile messaging industry for many years. Me2mobile is an business that we started in 2008 as a response to the growth of the mobile and interactive media. We are based in Ireland and Australia. We are always looking for bright energetic people to join us on our journey.

What's the Beef?

Me2mobile is a web based messaging service where you can send webtext and also set up alerts for your online social network notifications. There are 1 m main services on me2mobile. Firstly we provide a webtext service that allows you to send SMS to most international mobile numbers. Secondly, we over an SMS alert service for Social networking alerts (we call this Lifepulsing).

Idea behind Me2mobile's lifepulsing?

In August 2008, Twitter killed SMS updates for everybody outside of the U.S., Canada, and India. Users elsewhere can now only send messages from their phones, but can't receive them anymore. The developers of Lifepulsing spotted an opportunity for a general SMS alert system for online social networks (including all the biggeys Facebook, Friendfeed, etc). Thanks to Me2mobile's free lifepulsing service, you can now receive notification SMS messages on your mobile phone close to anywhere in the world.

Whats your business model?

Me2mobile will send you an SMS whenever you something changes in one of your online social network services (e.g. twitter DM, bebo message notificaton, etc). We offer a paid service and a free service. In order to finance the free service, Lifepulsing appends a short ad to all of its SMS messages. For the paid service, you'll pay a small monthly fee and for that you'll get bucket of SMS credits.

Others and my SMS alerts?

One of cool things about Lifepulsing is that you can create an SMS alert service and let other people join the subscription by texting in a keyword to a number. This is great as a way to keep your serious online followers up to date on what is happening in your online life. As an example, activists who send our twitter alerts can turn their twitter stream into an SMS alert service for their followers.

Controling SMS alerts?

In order to keep your SMS stream manageable, Lifepulsing lets you set the notification frequency (up to 3 messages per hour). At any time you can text into a number to control your service (i.e. turn alerts off or stop the subscription altogether)

Giving username/passwords?

Sometimes Lifepulsing will need your username/password in order to get login protected notifications (e.g. Twitter DMs). We are working on an Oauth integration with many services but in the interest of time we've decided to launch with this and we have taken all measures to make sure that your username/passwords are protected. We dont keep your username/password after you cancel the service. We dont store your username/password on any of our filesystems. If you have any concerns contact us at support[at]me2mobile.com

Sending SMS to an external app

Depending on your service setup, you can have the lifepulsing server forward incoming SMS as a HTTP GET to your external application. This is very useful if you want to write your own SMS applications.

The format of the http get to your app is as follows:
http://www.yoururl.com?OriginatorAddress=[SENDINGMOBILE]&DestinationAddress= [DESTINATIONNUMBER]&Message=[MESSAGE]&MessageId=[MESSAGEID]&Operator= [OPERATOR]&TimeStamp=[TIMESTAMP]
